So what’s the downward-facing dog anyway?
From what I could gather (I’m no expert) It’s a form of yoga practice used to strengthen the arms and the legs. Apparently it’s a very energizing workout and it helps with blood circulation.
It turns out that for the past ten years hundreds of women have been gathering in Bryant park, located in the heart of New York city, to perfect their downward facing dog.
The free classes are sponsored by Athleta (women’s yoga clothing line) and are held every summer on Tuesday mornings and Thursday nights.
What makes the whole set-up odd is the fact that yoga is suppose to be a quiet, relaxing experience, it certainly isn’t the kind of thing one is expected to do in the middle of an open, crowded, noisy park in New York City. But according to the participants it’s working just fine and they seem to be having a lot of fun. (Watch Video Via Business Insider)
